Proper care is essential to ensure long-term reliability, safety, and smooth operation of your equipment. Regular maintenance keeps your gear working like new, season after season. It is also very inportant to inspect all gear and test it out before taking it to the woods.
Clean and service your device on a regular maintance schedule or immediately if it has been exposed to any of the following:
Tree Sap & Grime: Sticky residue that slows down moving parts.
Grit & Dirt: A crunchy or stiff feeling when operating the mechanism.
Saltwater Environments: Corrosive marine air or direct saltwater contact.
Field Contaminants: Blood, leaves, or dirt from a successful hunt (hopefully a frequent occurrence!).

Follow these step-by-step instructions to keep your ascenders in peak operating condition:
Wash First (If Dirty)
If the device feels gritty or shows visible buildup, wash it in warm water with a mild dishwashing detergent. Allow the unit to dry completely before applying lubricant.
Target Key Lubrication Points
Apply your approved PTFE or silicone lubricant directly into the spring mechanism located between the cam and the side plates.
Distribute the Lubricant
Manually open and close the spring-loaded cam mechanism several times to ensure the lubricant thoroughly penetrates the axle and internal pivot points.
Wipe Away Excess
Thoroughly wipe off all surplus lubricant with a clean rag. This prevents transfer onto your climbing ropes, webbing, or slings.
